7th November 2018:

Warm, cosey place. It felt like it was your own home the way they give you a set of keys so that you can leave and come back in whenever you want. It was a relaxed environment. Rooms are gorgeous with stunning views and the breakfasts are delicious. Hosts are lovely, couldnt do enough for us. They gave us a map on our first day telling us good places to eat and visit, very informative. Thank you very much for a great stay.

Tips:

Me and my partner were only in Scotland for a few days but we crammed in so much. We had the most amazing time going up the gondolas, the views are just breathtaking. We went to see the Steall waterfall and lots of other things. We ate in the Ben Nevis Inn which i thought was amazing, felt like you were going back in time and the food was amazing! We also went to Blas which is in Fort williams town, id never tasted anything like their food, they are also on the Michelin guide, so i really recommend Blas if you are looking for somewhere a bit more fancy.

Me and my wife stayed here for the weekend, we were made to feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. The gust house offers stunning views and is situated within walking distance from the Main Street with bars and shops. Breakfast was lovely and the place was immaculate with a real cosy feel to it. Would definetly stay here again!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with friendly, warm and welcoming faces. Karen went above and beyond to assist us in any way she could, providing us with suggestions for dinner and activities and booking us taxis as required. The room was clean and comfortable, with beautiful touches of the highlands. The view we had to the front of the building and lake was spectacular. Breakfast was delicious and in a lovely room with stunning views - the best breaky with a view we’ve had. Would absolutely stay again and would recommend without hesitation.

Tips:

The Crannog was a nice formal-ish restaurant with delicious seafood The Ben Nevis Inn had delicious food in a more traditional or pub style but in a wonderful quirky, unique setting and with the added bonus of live music

A great warm and friendly place to stay. Excellent facilities and view of the Loch. Breakfast lovely (any combination). Owners chatty and advise on activities etc Great place to stay especially if you are in Fort William for a few nights.

Tips:

If you like curry then would recommended Spice Tandoori, lovely meal with view of the loch. Staff really pleasant and were not hurried in any way. N46 (or N47) bus up to Neptunes Staircase was really easy (from behind the high street)- well worth the trip if you have time as views of Ben Nevis are superb

Tips:

Nette Fußgängerzone mit Lokalen und Shops. Supermarkt war nicht weit von der Unterkunft entfernt. Perfekt, um die Gegend rund um den Ben Nevis zu erkunden oder diesen zu besteigen.

Had a lovely stay in the Nevis suite. The plane was spotless and the towels and bedding were really comfortable with the added benefit of a dressing gown! Karen was extremely helpful with deciding what to do each day, booking dinners and providing a very homely stay. The breakfast was delicious and views from the breakfast room over the loch were amazing. Added bonus of a drying room for the soggy clothes was really useful. 100% recommend and would stay again. Lochview Guest House is a lovely place to stay. We received a warm welcome and the property is a cosy and well appointed space. Also, having just finished the West Highland Way, there was a good drying room (something you'll come to appreciate if you do the walk) and it's at the right end of town for the official end of the route. Admittedly, it is a bit of a walk up the hill (only 5 mins or so) but the view of the loch is more than worth the effort!

My friend and I stayed for a few days as we were doing Ben Nevis. We couldn't have picked a better place! This was one of the best places I have ever stayed at in the UK. Absolute perfection for me. The location was perfect to start of with. Being up on that hill, gave fantastic views over Loch Linnhe. Karen was very welcoming and she attended to us during our stay. She was very informative of the area and very pleasant. The house was so clean and the garden was beautiful! The breakfast was delicious, especially the scrambled eggs. Presentation of the cooked breakfast was superb and quantity spot on. Definitely will be recommending Lochview Guest house to all my friends and returning here again!

Tips:

Definitely go for a walk round by the loch and down into the centre. There are so many restaurants and shops to see. There is a lot more to do but after doing Ben Nevis we decided to rest (Very sore muscles!) So we didn't get to get around too much.

This has been one of the best b&b's we’ve ever had the pleasure to stay at. Karen & Vince, the owners, are running a very high standard of service backed-up with excellent support staff who service the rooms. The breakfast has both continental style foods as well as an exceptionally well cooked traditional Scottish breakfast. Karen & Vince provide a very welcoming atmosphere along with the 'little extras' such as a well equipped & stocked leisure room with books, DVD’s and a large stock of local history and tourist information.

Tips:

The location has only got a 'four' due to it being at the top of a small hill and could be awkward for less than mobile people- although Fort William does have a good public and taxi transport system to alleviate this. We feel the standards of this b&b would make this well-worthwhile!

Tips:

Try the Stables restaurant for a meal, food and service were brilliant.plenty of walks in area and if you dont want to go up any hills go to the end of Glen Nevis and see Steall gorge and the waterfalls.

Tips:

Buses around the area can be a bit sporadic and limit what you can do. Would recommend a hire car from Easydrive in Fort William to get about. If wishing to walk Ben Nevis there is a Glen Shiel bus service dropping off at Glen Nevis Youth Hostel around 10.00am, but you need to be back down by 17.00 to get the last one going back.

Thank you very much for your very kind welcome on my arrival along with very appropriate suggestions for local things to do and see while staying in Fort William. They worked out perfectly even though I was using public transport. I was pleased too with your emailed suggestion to use a taxi from the bus station on my arrival, however after my original taxi ride with my suitcase, I was very comfortable with walking to and from Lochview Guest House into town. As a non meat eater I was more than comfortable with your wonderful breakfasts. With many thanks Sonia

Tips:

Enjoyed the boat ride on Loch Linnhe on my first morning and the afternoon bus trip and ride up the gondola. My second day was taken up with a visit to Neptune's stairway in the morning with a booked Jacobite Steam train ride in the afternoon. Tips:

The property is up a steep hill but we were warned of this and there is the bonus of great views. Lovely B & B situated at the top of the hill with beautiful views of the Loch. The accommodation is excellent and very good value for money. Karen & Vince made us very welcome and the breakfast was delicious.

Tips:

Easy but steep walk into town, but no problem to take the car down in the evening or taxis easily available. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, with all types of food.

VERY WELCOMING AND HELPFUL Lochview is beautifully looked after and the furnishings etc are all of good quality. Demonstrates the pride the owners have in their guest house. The only down side for us was the size of the room - very small - ok for a couple of nights, but we would hope for a larger room if we visited again.

Tips:

We travelled on the Jacobite - a lovely train ride through stunning scenery to Mallaig. A good afternoon out. Walks around the Caledonian Canal/locks to be recommended! We did not have time on this visit though

Tips:

Location is up the hill but it’s only a 10 min walk down to the town and 15 mins back up the steps. Can not recommend highly enough the Crannog Seafood Restaurant. Unfortunately did not have great experience at the Lime Tree Hotel and Garrison West ran out of 3 of the mains by 8pm although the waiting staff were helpful.

Tips:

The Crannog restaurant for those wanting a special treat. Garrison West for a good value pub meal, both in Fort William. A little further afield the Glenuig Inn just off the beautiful Road to the isles for a good lunch. All recommended by Karen and Vince.

We really appreciated your local knowledge, great breakfast and lovely view of the loch. The room was very comfortable.

The Hidden Valley walk near Glencoe is well worth it. We caught a bus to Glencoe (where we got a bit lost trying to find the information centre) then a taxi from the information centre to the start of the walk. We walked back to town via a pub - the people at the information centre in Glencoe were very helpful in showing us maps and pointing out the location of the pub.

Lovely hosts, Karen and Vince, made us feel welcome from the beginning in their lovely accommodation. Everything we could need was provided and Karen gave us lots of helpful information. It was so nice of her to phone and make table reservations for us at local restaurants. The breakfasts were wonderful and it seemed no bother to have Gluten Free food provided. I really appreciated that. The views from the breakfast room and some of the bedrooms were amazing.

Tips:

Karen and Vince have provided a folder of local restaurants which is very helpful. If you walk into town, which isn’t far, you need to be prepared for the climb back to Lochview. However it is easily done by car.

I can not say one negative thing about this place, whether it be the accomodation, the area, the staff etc. If you're planning on staying in Fort William then got to Lochview house. The staff are so welcoming you almost feel like you're in your own house with your own family. The view from our room looking onto Loch linnhe was absolutely breathtaking, and the breakfast in the morning set you up nicely for the day. Once again, I can not speak highly enough about Lochview House and I will most certainly be back on my next visit to Fort William.

Tips:

If you are a fan of Harry Potter or are interested in bridge architecture then the Glenfinna Viaduct is a mist see, certain times of the year you can also see the steam train going over the Viaduct so check in advance. Steall Falls are also beautiful and I would definitely recommend a visit. If you have a spare 1hour 30mins then take the boat tour round Loch Linnhe, stunning scenery and lots of wildlife (seals, eagles, etc and sometimes dolphins) The Grog and Gruel is a lovely restaurant, plenty of beer/ales to choose from and their steak & stout pie is delicious.

I've tried to think of some constructive criticism for Lochview but I can't think of anything that our hosts did not do to perfection. From the comfort and cleanliness of the room to the beautiful breakfast, laid out and served up better than any 5 star hotel. Our welcome cup of tea with view from the balcony, the information booklets in the room, the fluffy towels, I could go on but you get the gist. Thank you Karen for your wonderful welcome, helpful and friendly chats and attention to detail throughout.

Tips:

We went to FW specifically for a trip in the jacobite steam train so didn't get to take advantage of the walking and boat trips which are available. I would recommend the train trip but be aware that there are a few cafes and take aways in Mallaig but not much else so approx 1 1/2 hours there is plenty of time. Plenty of places to eat in Fort William. We found the Geographer to have good food, particularly the venison stew with friendly staff.

If driving to Mallaig, consider if you also want to catch the ferry over to Skye. If yes, then check ferry times. Also, the steam train to Mallaig was fully booked when we were there - should have booked tickets well in advance. No matter on either of the above as there is plenty to do in the area.

We received a lovely warm welcome from Karen on arrival & took her up on the offer of a well needed cup of tea & hearty piece of Scottish shortbread. After a quick run down of the local hotspots & how to get to them we were shown to our room. The view from there was just lovely & the room was spotless; it had everything that we needed. We were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was very high quality too -served in the breakfast room (the views from there top that from the bedroom with panoramic views of the mountains with the addition of the local birdlife that visited the well maintained surrounding gardens)an ample array of continental breakfast ingredients (cereals, fruit, cold meats & lovely fruit loaf) then a cooked option - potato scone being a particular favourite element! There was no rush in the morning, it was a relaxing way to start the day. We found our stay very pleasurable & if we were to stay in Fort William again, then would certainly stay again :)

Tips:

We were in Fort William as we were booked on the Jacobite steam train - we have travelled through there before but never stayed. I recommend the train journey to everyone - it was fabulous. We were fortunate to have brilliant weather but it was a lovely way to spend the day. We ate in the recommended seafood restaurant Crannog (advisable to book) and then went to the pubs in the centre. The high street is small but there are some little shops that are definitely worth a visit & we visited the West Highland Museum (free entry). As we were only visiting briefly we didn't get a chance to do any walking but other guests were taking advantage & donned their walking boots. It's a lovely area & we enjoyed our stay immensely!!

A lovely modern guest house with amazing view over the loch. Lots of information was sent to us before we arrived which was invaluable in finding our way to the guest house and advising about places to eat and the need to book! A very warm welcome with pot of tea offered while we absorbed details. Offers of help with booking restaurants and maps showing the way to the town - and a lovely breakfast in the morning.

Tips:

We had been advised, through the information previously received, to book our evening meal, which we did and had a nice dinner at the Nevis Bank Inn restaurant (Brown's). It was within walking distance of the guest house (all downhill, about 25 minutes) and we got a taxi back, again with good advice from mine hosts as to the best place to find one.

Lovely B&B with a beautiful view of the lake. Karen is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Lochview is situated high up on a hill hence the view.

Tips:

The Westend Hotel had a good menu and the food and service were good. We also went to Browns and again the food and service were good.

Fabulous guest house. A very warm welcome on our arrival. Beautiful room with a wonderful view over the loch. Breakfast was extremely good with plenty of choice from quality produce. We would recommend Lochview without any reservations, and would definitely stay there on. Our next visit.

Tips:

Plenty to see and do for visitors to Fort William. We did the 90 minute boat trip on the Loch this time with Crannog Cruises and were entertained by our very knowledgeable skipper. Seals and Dolphins amongst many highlights. Plenty good eating establishments but go early as many stop cooking around 8.30 pm

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Fantastic location and facilities. Attention to detail by the proprietors is amazing. I can't think of a single criticism, other than maybe and extra teabag in the teapot. I like it a little stronger.

Tips:

Fort William to Mallaig rail trip great, but not much at Mallaig. The steam loco has a turnaround time of one and half or two hours. Maybe consider a single on the train and bus back or visa versa. If your catch the normal service train at 16-15pm you are only at Mallaig 30 minutes.

I like to stay in places like Lochview as they are not only a business to the owners but a passion in which they put their genuine love of what they do in to the accommodation. No children under 12 and no dogs was an additional asset as sometimes you just want to be somewhere quiet and dog hair less in order to relax fully on your holiday. Lovely friendly hosts, nothing too much trouble and beautiful top quality accommodation, close to the Town and a big enough hill to climb on the way home to leave you feeling OK about the calories consumed at dinner. Can't wait to go back, will be my first port of call when planning another visit to Fort William.

Tips:

Too much to do, not enough time! Jacobite train was excellent but so would be driving to Mallaig and doing the Glenfinnan viewing walk from Glenfinnan station which you don't get to do when you're travelling by train.

Karen made us feel very welcome. The breakfast room is lovely and the breakfast is even better. They even have a 'drying room' where you can dry your wet clothes, bags and shoes if you go mountain walking. I thought this place was brilliant, Karen was on the ball and could not have done more. If I wanted to be really picky I struggled a bit with the electric shower but never the less I loved the place. Very highly recommended.

Tips:

If you are able to, get up early and walk down to the town and back. It's steep coming back but it gives you a great appetite for Karens breakfast. A must for me was the steam train to Mallaig

This was the most professional B&B we have stayed in a long time, we couldn't really fault it in any way. We loved the garden too!

Tips:

Lots of walking, we tried to do Ben Nevis, unfortunately we didn't get to the top as the weather was atrocious. Karen even insisted we let her know when we were off the mountain so she could stop worrying about us, and there was a drying room for all our wet gear.

I was unlucky enough to write off my car on my way Lochview on the evening of my first night. Karen and Vince couldn't have been kinder, picking me up in their car as well as allowing me to store the junk from my car in their garage. The pride and professionalism in their property/business is evident throughout - immaculate rooms, public areas and manicured gardens. Breakfast was great as was the Individual attention given by Karen in the dining room. A top class B&B with stunning views and first class service.

Tips:

10 minute walk down a pretty steep incline and you are on the High Street. (Unless you are fit I would take a taxi back to the guest house lol) Some great pubs and restaurants. Tavern was our favourite for food. Loads of stuff to see and do...Glenfinnan and Loch Shiel a 20 minute drive...again, marvellous scenery. Karen and Vince made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The position of the guest house is perfect, near to fort William centre but feels far enough away with stunning views over the loch. Breakfast was amazing. And the place was spotlessly clean. Will definitely return one day.

Tips:

If unsure of what to do ask karen. She is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Food wise I would recommend Ben Nevis Inn, the food was delicious. If feeling fit enough climb Ben Nevis. Making it to the summit is hard slog but definitely worth every step for those views and the gratifying achievement at the end. Glenfinnan monument and viaduct is worth a look also has some amazing views. We also visited some lovely hidden treasures we didn't know existed thanks to karen.

How would you like to wake up in the morning and look out over Loch Linnhe from your bedroom window? Or maybe have a cooked breakfast in a sun soaked room, also looking out over the Loch? Maybe the name "Lochview" gives it away! This guest house is a winner on so many levels. Ample parking on site, the warm welcome and coffe in arrival, good sized rooms, beautiful and bright breakfast room. If you and/or a group of friends are looking for a clean, warm and relaxing venue for a weekend away or as a base to go hiking, then Lochview really needs to be on your list. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Tips:

Karen will recommend a Loch cruise and it was informative and enjoyable. About 2 hours for £15. We drove over to the Neptune's Staircase (a series of locks for boats of all sizes) and watched a large ship go through and chatted to the crew and lock operators. Good fun, interesting and free! Make time to visit the museum in Fort William, which displays an extraordinary amount of exhibits and information about the Jacobites and local history. Fascinating!

Tips:

For an evening meal, suggest either the Grog and Gruel or the Ben Nevis pubs in the high street. Both offer great food, great beer, all at very reasonable costs.

Not your average B&B. Lovely warm welcome, lots of tips for hiking and sightseeing. Karen prepared us an amazing picnic to take up The Ben. The room was clean and had everything we needed for our 2 nights. High standard and quality. Great location for access to local amenities. Would definitely book again.

Tips:

Karen booked us a table at Craggon. An excellent seafood restaurant in town. Highly recommended. If you miss breakfast due to your planned hike then Karen is more than happy to prepare you a picnic which will more than sustain you for even Ben Nevis!! Book the Loch view room. Excellent views over Loch Linhe.

Excellent friendly hosts, enjoyable breakfasts, and a great view from the house.

Tips:

Cranog is a very good seafood restaurant on the wharf. Our hosts kindly got us a table there. Lochview is up quite a steep hill, so if you are walking from town, expect vigorous exercise, or take a taxi. The cruise on Loch Linney was good (views and wildlife), and a steam train ride (The Jacobite) to Mallaig is enjoyable. Pre book seats, or queue up on the station in the morning. Ask Vince and Karen for other suggestions regarding local activities.

Sorry we have to be fairly tight with our check in times, the problem every hotel/ guesthouse and Bed & Breakfast establishment has is making sure we prepare the rooms and property for you! we have such a short time between guests leaving and new arrivals! yes we could employ more staff however this would push up costs for you so there has to be a balance. Thank you for taking the time to review Lochview it is important to us and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

We found Lochview so welcoming, warm and friendly. Superb breakfast and thank you for the gluten free items for breakfast, gratefully appreciated. The room was superb, so comfortable and clean, what a view couldn't beat that! The rooms could do with some black out blinds or curtains, as evenings and mornings are very light in Scotland.

Tips:

This is a superb B&B and we would highly recommend it. However, it is on a steep hill, not advisable for persons with walking difficulties. A car therefore, is essential. The view from the house is superb and breakfast served in the conservatory also gives a spectacular view of Loch Lennhe. As a gluten free guest they really looked after me and breakfast was superb.

Every day we went out sightseeing, and every evening it was like coming home!! Lovely, lovely accommodation, and wonderful care. The views of Loch Linnhe are gorgeous. Karen, we SO enjoyed visiting with you, and lingering over breakfast. Hope you are enjoying the little warrior Kachina we brought you from New Mexico, and that he is taking good care of you.

Tips:

Walk along High Street; it's blocked from heavy traffic. Take the train to Mallaig. Drive along Loch Lochy and Ness. Take the road from Invermoristen to Skye. And while you're at Invermoristen, stop and take photos of the old bridge and the beautiful, tumbling falls there. Though very busy, a stop at Urquhart castle and a visit through their center is worth it. LOTS of history and detail about daily life.

Glen Nevis is worth visiting. I would recommend a booking at Crannog seafood restaurant.

21st June 2016:

Very comfortable bedrooms, a great location, and probably the nicest breakfast room of any B&B we've stayed in with lovely views over the loch from your table and even better from the superb patio (when the weather allows!) None of this would count for anything of course without the friendliness and attention of the owners, Karen and Vince. They made sure our three night stay was a happy one, and the breakfasts were excellent too. We would not hesitate to recommend a stay here, hopefully we'll be back some time soon!

Absolutely loved this guest house! Karen & Vince were super friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing and the views from the house were beautiful. I would absolutely stay again and wish I could have stayed much longer this time! Thank you!

Tips:

Fort William is a gorgeous area and this guest house is very conveniently located. There are lots of nice shops on the main road and the Ben Nevis Inn, at Glen Nevis, has some of the best food I've ever had, not just in the Highlands. There are actually so many things to do and see in this area if you love the outdoors that I can't even begin to list them all and I've only ever been in the area for a few days over two trips!

High Quality B&B with fantastic views, a short walk from town

Tips:

It's about a 5 to 10 minute walk to town and you have to walk 50 yards up a hill, which wasn't a problem for us, but may be difficult for people with mobility problems

Fabulous location with fantastic views. Hosts were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We really felt welcome. Lovely accommodation and really comfortable beds which is important to us. Breakfast was brilliant. Couldn't recommend enough.

Tips:

Taxi is not too much into the town to eat. Waterfalls nearby are worth a visit as is the Commando memorial.

1st June 2016:

Beautiful guesthouse in a stunning location on the hill overlooking the loch. Karen and Vince were lovely - couldn't do enough for us and made us feel very welcome. Even gave the boyfriend a birthday card! Our room was lovely - clean and comfortable with a great view. Breakfast was good quality, tasty and they made a real effort to meet dietary requirements. The only negative was the steep walk up the hill, but we knew about this beforehand and that's the price you pay for the amazing view! Would definitely stay again :)

Tips:

The walk up the hill is tricky if you have any kind of mobility issues, so maybe get a cab (about £5 from the town). It can be hard to find somewhere to have dinner because everywhere gets very busy and seems to stop serving at 9, so head out earlier than you want to eat or try to book in advance if you can.
