Unfortunately the weather was appalling so we didn't see it at its best. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast delicious!

Tips:

On a wet Sunday evening it was a bit of a challenge to find somewhere in a town we didn't know without the risk of drowning! Had hoped to go to Crannog on the water's edge but it was full to overflowing even before 6p.m! It had been recommended to us by friends.

I would rate the staff as a 10 if I could! Phil and Carmen were incredibly hospitable, thoughtful, and generous with their time. The level of service was high and I don’t know how they manage to do it. It was a wonderful, wonderful stay.

Tips:

We really enjoyed the local museum. You could easily spend a couple hours in the museum. Blas and the Lime Tree were excellent for delicious splurge dinners. I also really enjoyed my informal whiskey tasting with Carmen and Phil on two different evenings around the fire at the guesthouse. Even if you aren’t a whiskey drinker, I highly recommend a tasting because it will better your understanding of just how good whiskey can actually be.

No matter of detail left unattended. Staff go the “extra mile” in looking after guests. Small bar facility in lounge much appreciated for pre dinner drinks.

Tips:

Don’t be alarmed if your walking shoes are not where you left them the following morning. They could well have been removed to the drying room facility by the owner as a helpful gesture to ensure that you have dry shoes with which to start the day!

My room and private shower room were very clean, and quiet. I was impressed by the breakfast, offering Highland meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, and proper coffee. It was good value, especially for a single room, which can be hard to find and expensive. I travel quite a lot with work and would certainly stay here again.

Very good service, being able to leave luggage on morning arrival in Fort William and collect before evening departure, as well as 0730 breakfast serving to enable early starts. Close proximity to public transport links. Train journey from Fort William to Mallaig is spectacular, and early service links with ferries out to Small Isles. Ben Nevis is well worth the climb.

Clean and very efficiently run. Very pleasant location in elevated position, a short walk from train station and town centre. Excellent breakfast in lovely room. Useful laundry service. Do not provide packed lunch as sandwiches available from Morrisons. Kept mine in fridge overnight for early start. Single room very good value but rarely bookable for consecutive nights as often reserved for coach drivers.

Tips:

On bus route to Glen Nevis Centre, but walkable in 30 mins. Book restaurants ahead in tourist season.

I always do recommend Guisachan House. The knowledge and friendliness of the owners and pleasantness of the staff makes you feel welcome. Will return again next year for the 4th year in a row.

Tips:

If you are interested in history, the Highland Museum is a small, well-organised treasure trove of the area. The Jacobite is just down the hill at the Ft. William Rail Station and for a view of the old city wall, the entrance to the cemetary is some of the last piece of the exterior wall of Ft. William. Old Inverlochy Castle is just to the north of town. And you are just a bus ride from Glencoe.

The place is ideally located :-) only a 2 hour drive+ferry to the Isle of Mull (Duart Castle) and a mere 2 hour drive (by bus) to the Loch Ness. There're also indoor and outdoor activities nearby (45 minute drive) for those who fancy climbing rocks or ice or walking on wooden beams hanging high ;-) (The Ice Factor). Anyway, the guesthouse allows to do great many fantastic things around...Boredom can't be on your agenda there!:-) What's more, the hosts Phill & Carmen are really lovely people, really caring. They catered to all our needs during our stay from 28 April to 3 May 2018. We were 32 so I guess it wasn't always a piece of cake for them :-) but they managed to handle everything perfectly well. I definitely recommend this place to other travellers looking for a place where you feel like at home and where you don't need to rack your brains for hours to find something amazing to do in the area ;-)

We couldn’t have been made more welcome by Carmen and Phill when we returned after 20 years to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The location of the Guisachan is ideal, a short walk from the train station and ideally placed for Fort Williams high street. We parked in the Guisachans private car park. Our room was spotless and the bottle of champagne a lovely touch. The view from the lounge/bar area over Loch Linnhe is gorgeous and the room itself very relaxing. I had the full Scottish breakfast which set me up for the rest of the day and was most enjoyable. My wife had poached egg on toast which was made to order, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks Carmen & Phill, hope to see you again soon.

Tips:

Ideally placed minutes walk from the train station and into Fort William itself. Ideal also for climbers and hikers as we found out, quite a few were staying. We spent an afternoon cruising Loch Linnhe onboard Souters Lass with Crannog cruises, tickets were £15pp purchased from the the small pier. The cruise lasted 1.5hrs and the Skipper made it very enjoyable with his informative commentary. We ate at ‘The Stables’ grill bar, five minutes walk from Guisachan. The food was delicious in a relaxing atmospheres with great staff. Fort William’s high street was relatively quiet even on a Saturday with a mix of outdoor clothing shops, cafe’s and souvenir shops. Fort William is an ideal base to explore the Highlands.

The facilities are good but the star "extra" is the excellent drying room - much needed following the wind and rain during our stay in the area. Admire Phill's beautiful photographs too - nice to have one's host's own work hanging on the walls.

30th September 2017:

We were en route from Inverness to Oban, and had to stay over one night in Fort William because there was no connecting bus service on the same day. However we were happy that we did, as this guesthouse was lovely with a fabulous view of the town and river. Our room was a bit small with no view, but it was clean and comfortable. There is a lounge where one can purchase snacks, wine and spirits, and a delicious Scottish breakfast included. We ordered cappucinos at no extra charge, which was a nice bonus. Phill, one of the owners, is an amateur photographer, and we purchased some placemats with his photos of nature scenes in the area. Very personable and welcoming hosts.

Tips:

Garrison West is a nice restaurant tucked away off the main road where we had a light but good lunch. We ate a delicious dinner at the Crofters Pub. It is obviously a favourite with the locals, and is reasonably priced. As in most pubs we have visited in Scotland, we recommend the "malt of the month", a single malt Scotch at a special price. This one was under 3 pounds!

We were very impressed by the comfort, standard of facilities, cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfasts and value for money here. A bit of a climb up the hill with heavy bags but we didn't mind as the view is stunning. The walls and doors of the part of the house we were in seemed not to exclude much neighbour noise...but most people were aware and kept it down...I hope we did too!

We couldn't have been happier with our accommodations, They were the best we had in Scotland and we found very good places during our stay. The room was very well appointed and the attention to detail and comfort was wonderful. They even had DVDs for us to use if we wanted ( too tired for that) The breakfast was beautiful, ample and very tasty. Stay here if you can!

Having looked at many other places to stay in Fort William I picked this guest house because of the online reviews. I have to say I wasn't dissapointed. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The accommodation clean and tidy, we got a twin room with great views that over looked the town and Loch. If I was to be at all critical some of the decor is a little dated but this really shouldn't put you off booking if you are looking for a good value for money guest house in Fort William with a welcoming atmosphere that is close to the town centre. thanks again for a great weekend.

The owners were extremely accommodating throughout our stay and couldn't do enough to help us. We used the lounge area one evening when we arrived home late and the licensed bar was a real plus. The rooms were comfortable, clean, warm and toiletries were provided in the ensuite bathroom. We had a very early start on the first day and we were provided with a lovely packed breakfast to take with us. There were lots of choice a breakfast, the lovely hot Scottish breakfast, cereals, fruit, yogurt and toast. The drying room was excellent and we all used this throughout our stay to dry our kit, especially on the second day when we returned from the Ben Nevis walk after a very wet day. A great place to stay with excellent staff at a very reasonable price.

Staying at Guisachan House was an absolute pleasure. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt welcomed and looked after. This is a wonderful B&B that feels more like you're staying in a five star hotel. My father and I stayed here to climb Ben Nevis, and the dedicated clothes drying room really helped. Don't hesitate, book here first if you can, then look elsewhere.

Tips:

The main street is great for a stroll, and there are some nice pubs to sit in and have a whiskey and/or dinner. If you leave without attempting to climb the mountain overlooking Fort William (Ben Nevis), you're doing it wrong.

This was my second visit to Guisachan House and next time I come back to Fort William I'll definitely book it again. Amazing full Scottish breakfast! Plenty off-street private parking.

Tips:

Very central location, yet peaceful. Only a short walk down to town centre for a selection of restaurants, pubs etc., unlike some of the B & Bs you see as you drive in from the south, which are quite a distance from town Only a few yards away from The West Highland Way

Second time visiting Guisachan House. Even went back to say hi when passing through Fort William. A relaxing location when finishing a hike, or just a visit to Fort William area. Clean, comfortable, nice breakfast area that looks over the loch, beautiful maintained, floral gardens around the building, very comfy lounge with refreshment service. The proprietors are extremely nice people, Phil and Carmen.

Wonderful personal service, really appreciated that my luggage was not only brought to my room but also taken down down the stairs on leaving. Superb efficiency! Nice touches; had really first class herbal teas ( Pukka and clipper), made porridge for me even though it was not on the menu, had cotton wool and pads in the bathroom.

Tips:

Museum is well worth a visit. Just opposite from the road looking down is an arch as entrance to an old cemetery which is the old arch from the fort of Fort William. We had wanted to go on the Jacobite trains and had been unable to book online but did not know that they always keep some tickets back.

They also provide good advice for activities. The rooms and dining room are spotless. The only reason Facilities is rated as a 4 and not a 5 is because the room we were in is rather small and the shower as well small.

Very comfortable beds, check in was easy and our room ready before the allotted time. Nice wee bar to enjoy a drink after travelling, enjoying great views from the large sitting room window.. Lucky enough to have a front of the house bedroom which also gave us great views over the loch. Breakfast was delicious, hot no plentiful. I did ask if you had potato scones only to be told it was more an English thing by the girl serving us. Born and raised in Glasgow, now living in Australia, potato scones were part of our diet, so I'm sure it is a Scottish delicacy. 10/10 we really enjoyed our stay. Ps, shortbread in the bedroom was a nice touch, which we enjoyed with our coffee.

Tips:

We travelled up to Fort William for the Jocabie train ride. It was a great experience, even though it rained the whole time. Watch out for dogs on the train??? I got bitten by one and had to spend time in hospital awaiting a tetanus injection. Staff on the train were amazing and if you need to attend the local hospital, the staff there were equally amazing.

We had a great stay here in room no. 14. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent! Only the room wasn't very soundproof, but i's a B&B and so it wasn't a big problem ;-) We can highly recommend this B&B!

Tips:

Have dinner at "The crofter"! Really good meal for suitable prices. If you got enough time, have a trip on the Jacobite to Mallaig. It's a great trip with a steam train across beautiful landscapes and over the Glenfinnan viaduct!

I was most pleased with my choice of B and B-- the 4 for location is only because of the steep rise of the road outside-- but no problem really for an 86 year old with unruly balance! Just be sensible and take time-- and for car travellers-- easy! The room was clean, neat, tidy and I slept well and woke myself up with a greaT shower-- Good breakfast, a tasty prelude for a happy journey to Skye. Thank you very much-- I was happy and I hope other guests will b e !

Well, where do I start? Excellent location and excellent view (the B&B, literally 5 mins walk from Fort William station is overlooking the loch, really wonderful), very nice and extremely clean rooms (for most guests that's a priority!). Fantastic breakfast and excellent bar service! The lounge, overlooking the loch as well, is lovely and really comfortable (I brought over some books for exam revision and I have to say I've never felt so much at home anywhere else as I have at the Guisachan Guest House). Phill and Carmen are really friendly and have always welcomed any need I had! Also had a couple of very nice chats in the eve! This was my second visit and sure enough there will be a third. There was a bit of an availability issue/delay with the room I booked but they've been extremely helpful and sorted it right away! I know it sounds like a lot of "excellent" and "fantastic" but let me give credit where it's due. And, oh, by the way, have a look at the fantastic postcards Phill makes with his pictures! Thanks a lot for the lovely stay! Fil

I have stayed at very many B&B's over the past 45 years or so, Guisachan House is among the very best of them. The location is simply wonderful. Within easy walking distance from the station, it commands view over the town and the loch beyond which sink into your soul. My room was superbly appointed, with lovely, thoughtful touches and every convenience. As for the breakfast, all I can say is WOW! I only consume a cooked breakfast when away from home as my wife is a vegetarian, so Phil's efforts were more than greatly appreciated. The sausage was full of flavour as was the bacon. The mushrooms were fresh and cooked perfectly, the fried egg was done just right, and with the addition of baked beans, lovely haggis and tomato, this set me up for the day. If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay, in the beautiful town of Fort William, which is a fraction of the price charged by the local hotels, then look no further than Guisachan House.
