Didn’t realise until we were leaving that we needed to put a sign on our door to have the room serviced. We thought that the used cups would have been replaced and also hospitality tray re-stocked automatically.

Tips:

Book restaurants in advance as not many available.

Our hosts Andy and Carole were excellent and the accommodation is a credit to them Breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. It was like visiting family. As well as looking after us they recommended the best trips and places to eat they should get a tourist board award Great stay and we look forward to visiting them again

Tips:

Andy and carole recommended all the best places to visit and where to eat. They have tried all the recommendation they make and regularly explore and expand their knowledge of the surrounding area Highly recommended.

Fantastic hosts, Andy and Carole were so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was amazing and set us up for the rest of the day. The room and all facilities were really clean and well presented. The highlight tho' was the welcome afforded by the owners ...perfect.

Tips:

The food at the Ben Nevis Inn was stunning. You will need to book in advance. I would suggest a day or two before you want to eat there as it fills up rapidly.

The owners Carol and Andy are very friendly and helpful and are happy to advise on places to eat, walks etc . The guesthouse has a good view of Loch Linnhe and surrounding mountains.

Tips:

Plenty of places to eat in Fort William with a nice walk into town overlooking the loch, there is free parking after 6pm in most of the town centre car parks. The A82 can get a bit congested on the north side of town at certain times of the day.

Our stay was perfect - we had everything we needed, the fridge & TV room were wonderful extra's. The view from our room was exceptional! You were perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome.

Tips:

Leave yourself plenty of time to take in everything in the area as there is so much to see - expecially with Covid restrictions being relaxed. The walk up to the Glenfinnan viaduct is well worth it as is the trip on the Jacobite Steam Train. There is a huge variety of places to eat, from cheap & cheerful to high end.

Lovely B&B with the most amazing views. Mike greeted us warmly and kindly.Having access to a proper-sized washer and dryer, for a very reasonable fee, were a life-saver for us after hiking for several days. We were sorry not to have the opportunity to enjoy breakfast as we had to leave very early. For those thinking of staying in the family room, it would be good for a family with small children, but it was quite snug for our family with two adult-sized teens.

Tips:

It's a bit of a walk into town, but we had lovely weather so it was beautifully pleasant to walk along the water.

Really Impressed...More Than We Expected - when we arrived we received a warm welcome and were surprised we got fresh towels and even a dog towel and poo bags for our dog...really thoughtful. The breakfasts were lovely (good choice) and we felt welcome the whole time, it was more like staying with family than in a strangers house. They lock up about mid-night but we were told if we're a bit later just ring the bell. Also told if we needed any extra milk for tea/coffeetc just to ask...really helpful. The room had a good supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and even biscuits topped up each day...they really do go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this B&B...for the price it's fantastic value.

Tips:

It really is only a 15 minute walk along a beautiful loch to the town centre where you'll find bars, restaurants, Tesco, Morrisons and fuel. Everything is in easy reach with a car, Ben Nevis, Avimore, Loch Ness and lots more.

Mike and Jackie at Balcarres are super-friendly hosts. Rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. Little touches like fresh milk for your tea/coffee; full-sized bath-sheet; extensive breakfast choices make Balcarres an ideal place to stay - and somewhere I can happily recommend and intend to return to.

Tips:

Must do - Crannog Cruises - a trip up Loch Linnhe with a fascinating commentary. Aonach Mor Gondolas - fantastic views back down to Fort William, Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil. Glencoe Visitor Centre. Jacobite Express Steam Train - Fort William to Mallaig. Places to eat: - Hot Roast Company café in Fort William Clan MacDuff Hotel Restaurant. Tips:

I enjoyed a delicious meal at Crannog - it was pricey but a nice treat - I had to book a day ahead. I went to the Grog and Gruel twice - good atmosphere! Ben Nevis is awesome - for those like me who are not skilled climbers, even making it to the loch is an achievement (nearly half way).

Nice location: about 10 minutes walk from town centre. Place itself is off the main road and at a higher level so great view of Loch Linne. Comfortable and good choices for breakfast (even though I limited my own choices). I would definitely stay at Balcarres again.

Tips:

Plenty to do: with one path to Ben Nevis a few miles away; other hiking trails; cable car rides; and so much more; plenty of shops - though they do close promptly at 5pm; plenty of places to eat - I tried two and the 2nd place I visited, The Grog and Gruel was brilliant. Loved the food and choices of ales. If you can, try to get to hiking trails before 9, otherwise if you get there by car you will struggle to get parked!

We enjoyed our stay here. They have a lovely view, provided a delicious breakfast, and took care of all our needs. We could have stayed here exploring the area much longer, but only had the one night. Thank you for your hospitality!

Tips:

We took the Jacobite steam train from Fort Williams to Mallaig while in this area and enjoyed it very much. The views on the trip are really beautiful! Just riding on the old steam train is quite an experience in itself!

If you are going to Fort William, dont go home without going up Ben Nevis, worth every penny, but take a coat, its a bit draughty up there !!

12th May 2014:

Mike the host was excellent with nothing too much trouble. We loved the breakfast which was the best out of all the B&Bs we stayed at in Scotland. One 'fly in the ointment' was that the bed in our room really needs replacing and my partner found it hard to sleep in it. Like some other guests, initially finding the place proved to be a challenge since the sign on the road below is partially obscured and the little track up to the three guest houses is difficult to distinguish since only one guest house has it's sign at the foot of the track and you think that only one B&B is up there.

Tips:

The walk into Fort William is worth doing plus eating at the Alexandra hotel was good with especially good haggis. The train ride to Mallaig was exceptional although Mallaig itself is not really worth going for. We had a diesel train since the steam train the 'Jacobite' wasn't running at the time of year we were there. The gondola ride up Aonach Mor is well worth doing only if like us, you get a clear day.

Wow, wow, wow. They think of everything and have it in your room for your use. The host was very helpful in advising us of places to eat in the evening. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat and recommend the place to friends and family.

Tips:

A trip up the gondola at the Nevis Range is highly recommended weather permitting it is running . Excellent views from the top and in better months can watch downhill cyclists make their way down the mountain, if you have a bike you can have a go yourself.

We found Mike & Jackie to be great hosts who worked tirelessly to make sure their guests where comfortable and enjoying their stay. They provided a wide choice of different breakfast ingredients and managed to keep me and my vegetarian wife happy with their superb variety of food. All in all we had a lovely stay with Mike & Jackie and may well be back for another stay for the Scottish 6 day trails early next year.
